If we are successful in applying for a dementia assistance dog, what’s involved in the training and placement, and is there ongoing support?

Once a suitable dog has been matched to you both, the next step is ‘placement training’.  This starts from the day the dog arrives.  Our Assistance Dog Instructor is at hand to help train you both with the dog, and help the dog settle into its new environment and routine to adapt its skills to meet your needs.

Following successful placement training, together with your dog, you are both qualified as a working dog team and officially become Dogs for Good clients.  As such you will receive free ongoing aftercare support for the remaining working lifetime of the dog.
